Priestley Family Chiropractic 2019 Food Drive

Priestley Family Chiropractic and Second Harvest Food Bank are teaming up to put to get an in-office and virtual food drive. Second Harvest Food Bank, a member of the Feeding America foodbank network, is the largest hunger relief organization in Orange County leading the fight to end hunger in our community. We have launched our new five year Strategic Plan which includes a Bold Goal to make an even greater impact by providing more high-quality, nutritious food to children, families and seniors who continue to need our help. Our Bold Goal will increase the number of meals we provide from 20 million to 30 million by 2021 and will help us potentially close the entire meal gap by 2025.

Patients who donate $20 worth of food/items will receive a voucher for a New Patient Examination for their friend or loved one!

Second Harvest Stats & Facts

  • More than 90 cents of every dollar spent is used for programs to feed the hungry
  • More than 315,000 people (10.1%) in OC are at risk of hunger each month
  • More than 129,000 (17.9%) children in OC are at risk of hunger
  • We feed more than 200,000 people each month, but that leaves nearly 115,000 people without food when they need it
  • In FY 2016 we provided the equivalent of 20.1 million meals for the hungry
  • Food is provided through a network of 180 community partners distributing food in every city in Orange County
  • Our programs, School Pantry, Mobile and Adopt a Pantry, Kids Cafe, Permanent School Pantry, and Senior Groceries target the most vulnerable members of our community – children and seniors

Most Needed Items

Nearly 315,000 people in Orange County are at risk of hunger every month. Everyone’s health is important. Help us provide nutritious food to those who need it the most. Healthier items that are low in sodium and sugar, high in protein and fiber include:

  • Peanut or Other Seed Butters
  • Canned Vegetables (low sodium)
  • Rice (brown)
  • Canned Fruit (packed in water or juice) or Natural Applesauce
  • Dried or Canned Beans (low sodium)
  • Whole Grain Cereal (low sugar)
  • Canned or Boxed Soup (low sodium)
  • Whole Grain Pasta
  • Canned Meats & Fish (in water)
  • Healthy Snacks such as low sugar granola bars, raw nuts or dried fruit

*Please, no glass containers or perishable items.
